Using Authorware , learning professionals could create learning programs with hyper-simplistic designs, primarily through dragging and dropping icons. So, simplicity was there for the author, but at the cost of effective learner engagement.

Hypercard and Authorware both launched in 1987, making it easy to create multi-media programs. Mailing CD-ROM courses to offices around the world was significantly cheaper than regularly sending instructors to the same sites. Both of which are already well established as effective learning solutions in corporate training.

Michael was, of course, the creator of Authorware, a highly powerful tool from the CD-ROM era, which Adobe eventually gave up on after they inherited it from Macromedia. Authorware was a serious tool that you could use for serious projects, but with a friendly interface. That's a shame.

And for the longest time, folks in the corporate space saw blended as the most effective way to present content, knowledge and information. And there is plenty of insight showing that anytime, anywhere learning that is non-linear is more effective that following an agenda, point by point, ILT. . No one said anything.
