MOOCs Aren’t Interactive, So There’s No Real Learning Taking Place

Your Training Edge

Use surveys and polls. Surveys and polls can be used in many ways in MOOCs. For example, as an introduction to a particular learning activity, take a poll to gauge what learners already know or how they feel about the topic. Featured image by Bin im Garten. Cammy Beans Learning Visions: Women, Gaming & the Guild Master Ceiling

Learning Visions

A basic premise of the book is that gamers are on their way into the workplace and will be changing how we do business. Im concerned that women will be excluded if such a focus is put on gaming skills -- or at least the gamer label. Im just raising some questions. Cammy Beans Learning Visions: College Women on Gamers: They Giggle

Learning Visions

That said, Im a little concerned that the gamer mentality is sometimes presented as important to corporate culture and that as a result women should get into gaming. This seems to echo the stale pattern in which women adapt to a male-dominated business culture. Im a bit of an über a-hole when it comes to stereotypical representations - the giggly "girl" (which is the name of this episode) just lights my match. I play geography games, but Im not a gamer.
