Kineo Group’s Totara LMS is a new breed of systems hitting the space. Vendors in this space include Docebo, eFront, Litmos and of course Totara. Seems to focus more on client side server, when space as a whole is focused more on SaaS. What I Loved. What I Liked. Social – solid, could be better. Welcome Home.

At one time it was all – “on your own servers” or nothing. These include assessment tool, social including chat and forums, learner home page, calendar, email notifications, bookmarks, file repository, certificates, add users and groups and course catalog. In the cloud or on your own servers. Low cost systems are typically SaaS based (then again, the LMS industry as a whole is more SaaS based than hosted on your servers). Many vendors’ sites do not state this information in their pricing. There are exceptions to the rule (as u will soon see).

That said, there were some hiccups and from an entire vendor wise (expo here) angle, some unique and some, uh. This year, I estimated a 55/60% e-learning, including some ILT vendors offering some type of e-learning component. . I see way too many vendors think a web site is all they need and people will find them.
