I really like what Ted-Ed is doing by “flipping” videos for educational purposes, however I can’t help but think how much better the learning experience would be if the quiz was embedded in the video itself within context, instead of having to watch the video first before taking the quiz, which is how things work today.

About two weeks ago Captivate 10, now labeled Captivate 2017 was released. Retina screen – software recordings. Captivate 9 was the first release which could be used on retina screens. However to record a Video Demo or a Software simulation you did have to edit the AdobeCaptivate.ini file. While loop.

Notes: Price: Captivate is the most affordable at $899, with a subscription model that is even more affordable if you only use Captivate occasionally or if you upgrade every year. Lectora is $1600 for the core e-learning software, while their Inspire suite with extra multi-media tools is $2500. Captivate is close behind.

Whenever a comparison of eLearning authoring tools is published, Captivate still is considered to be the best tool for creation of software tutorials. That has been indeed the primary goal when Captivate was released many years ago. There are many alternatives to Captivate’s Video Demo. Viewers expect short videos.

Studio ’13 is a very nice upgrade that features new Engage templates, additional quiz questions (including drag-and-drop), feedback layers, HTML5 publishing, characters, and a unified player, among other things. ( The new version can publish to Flash, HTML5, and the Articulate Mobile Player, much like Storyline.
