NexLearn (Simulation tool) – their uber robust sim version will cost you nearly 13K for one license, their base version (Simplicity) $999. Platte Canyon – Toolbook 11 (full version) $2,795 per license. But I’ve seen this before – it was called CBT (Computer based training with a CD-ROM).

And wouldn't it be even better if I could then have an electronic version of the tool so I wouldn't have to re-type the entire thing again? Where is that audience analysis checklist I developed? In what folder is that chart I use to explain concepts to new designers?

It can be transmitted over the Internet, Intranet, CD/DVD, thumb drives, etc. These tools basically provide the user with pre-built templates for inserting content, interactions and multimedia elements. Once everything is aligned with the template the user can publish the content.

You can build templates and themes and share these between projects and developers. Michael was, of course, the creator of Authorware, a highly powerful tool from the CD-ROM era, which Adobe eventually gave up on after they inherited it from Macromedia. I've no idea what the professional and enterprise versions will cost.
