Most of the new authoring tools either use PPT as their backbone or offer the ability to import slides. Interface creation, navigation buttons, LMS tracking, and testing abilities are then typically added to the PPT functionality. Using these new tools meant that I had to start using PPT. Everyone has PPT.

My biggest problem is Apple’s war on Flash. As we evolve in our eLearning journeys, we often follow this path: “convert this course” (when you’re just getting started, you need to get it online) “make it look better” (I see that my course could look better. How do I do that better without being a graphic designer?)

Due to budgetary restrictions I am limited to Power Point in combination with a PPT to Flash Converter as my authoring tool. This has actually gone surprisingly well and I am having a hard time figuring out what the major authoring tools out there have over power point when it is used with a Flash Converter.
