I’ll be the first to admit, that I was not a big fan of the previous versions of the Plateau system. After viewing the Plateau TMS, my concerns in one area have been eliminated, in others, not so much. Plateau LMS is a Talent Management System, made up of four modules. Plateau Learning. Plateau Performance.

I include Learning Portals, LCMSs, as part of the mix. Big Dog (Saba, SumTotal, Plateau, Cornerstone OnDemand, Learn.com). Extended Enterprise – System must have e-comm, multi-tenet – fully skinnable, additional functionality. Cost/Budget Allocation. Social Learning Management System of the Year.

Oracle then followed suit by acquiring SuccessFactors who had acquired Plateau in the past. I’m sure the people who had purchased Plateau or even SuccessFactors Learning system were delighted to hear the news. Talent management components are here to stay, good, bad or indifferent.

Back in the days, the Plateau platform was ghastly awful. Jam – which is their social learning and collaboration tool. M-Learning with online/offline synch, native app, supports HTML5, gesture based design, MP4 and yes even EPUB. Also sells a Knowledge Management Platform, which can be added to LMS for an additional cost.

Especially if it costs extra. I only know of a few vendors that include a TM/PM feature at no additional cost, it just comes with the system – and their systems are what I consider a full LMS. Because it is just a feature, just as mobile learning is a feature – that comes with the system. Always after.

I am projecting that by the end of 2012, you will see HRIS features come into play, but more so as an additional cost module. Plateau is now called SuccessFactors. Expect to see an increase in systems adding compensation, other workforce mgt features and benefits to their products. Why more features on the side of HR? LMS Demo Shop.

Some vendors who have failed to deliver, in my opinion, a user friendly system, due to front end or back end (admin side), or sometimes both. Plateau Talent Management System. Many people assume because it costs a lot of money, it therefore must be a great product and user positive. Authoring Tools (Rapid E-Learning).
