"Personally, I dont like to hide things from learners and play guessing games, so I am an advocate of letting the learner know, up front, what they will be expected to do at the conclusion of the course, lesson, or whatever. Im not sure I suggested writing WIIFM learning objectives, but they probably have their uses.

School takes care of academics, they each play a sport (or 2), and they each takes lessons in some creative endeavor.guitar, piano, writing, coding, etc. Im looking forward to seeing how the skills hes learning through gaming will serve him in the other areas of his life.
