Effective Metrics for Learning and Development I wonder what Shaw would think if he saw the way learning and development is predominantly measured in organisations today. Second, optional (not mandatory) training programs and those that focus on cultural awareness (not the threat of the law) can have positive effects.

Intention gives you metrics and measurement. You will lose the battle if try to come up with metrics around totally informal learning. What are the metrics? Amount of time to move info through a salesforce – maybe the metric is time). Given our problem, the metrics, the stakeholders – how are we gonna do it?

What are the relevant metrics? Get sign-off from all stakeholders on behavior change goals, resourcing responsibilities, metrics. If program is about improving customer service -- then ask customers. How do you quantify self-reports when theres no business metric? What other support mechanisms, systems, etc. It depends.
