Yesterday, I was at a bowling alley / arcade and several of the games at an arcade had customizing my ride kids of features. Why the heck doesn't each tool – WebEx, Adobe Connect, Elluminate, etc. Because it makes us feel more connected to the experience? It goes from a game to a social experience.

I can see that a dozen students having voice discussions in an immersive world using their custom built avatars could really be fun and could really stimulate some interest in synchronous simulation technologies. I would choose something like Elluminate Live for my synchronous activities.
