Continuing on from my earlier posts: LMS Selection Presentation Reformulated LMS Selection Team and Stakeholders LMS Selection Process From several comments and from looking at my list of issues, I realize that writing a good LMS RFP is challenging and it's easy to make lots of mistakes. LMS RFP Resources John Theis wrote a dissertation on the contents of 25 RFPs submitted to an LMS vendor. But, what I see as the most common problem in LMS RFP documents are the requirements.

That said when it involves your employees (and retaining them) and your customers (and increasing sales), you may wish to think of another way to solve the problem, rather than just acquiescing. They didn’t hire you because they felt you were just a warm body, they hired you because of your knowledge and expertise in all things, training or L&D or whatever your role is in HR. . Blasting out an RFP to everyone or dozens of vendors is an awful idea.

Types of content includes media – which is either video, audio, or any type of immersive assets – a course that is interactive, a PDF that has mini video pieces, content that is engaging to the learner – in other words, pro-active not reactive. If you want to instill fear, the first thing you need to do is assess your prey, err potential customer. Any vendor who sees you as a potential customer, should go to your web site and grab the banner/header or colors and place it in your demo before you begin. What makes this even worse, is that they tell others that they always customize their demo by focusing on the areas the customer needs or wants. And let’s go back to that RFP for a second.
