Feature sets – they have to be more than PPT to Flash or add an audio clip and video clip to the course. The newest version adds an adaptive learning capability, which I saw first hand at DevLearn – it was extremely impressive and extremely rare in this space. If they are stale – seriously do you deserve to the best?

Was great at DevLearn. Some lower-end, PPT + Audio tools will do well with none winning huge shares of the marketplace. Recent Guild research still puts them at the top, but I left out Lectora for course authoring which is a great development and packaging tool that is very close to Articulate in terms of reported usage.
