I include Learning Portals, LCMSs, as part of the mix. I like this system and its functionality in comparison to the other players in this space. That said, across the board for all Big Dog systems, their social learning functionality was weak. My runner-up is Operitel’s LearnFlex LSP. These standout to me.

While, I can understand vendors who would rather not offer a “talent management or performance management&# option, the decision to ignore social learning, is strange. It is not as though, social learning is going to disappear. Time for these vendors to wake up, or see your audience share disappear.

You could count on your hand the number of vendors even looking at it, and I’m not just talking LMSs/Learning Portals, but content authoring tools and other products. I recall speaking in November on a webinar panel and being somewhat chided over the fact that I kept repeating the importance of mobile learning and tablets.

Revenues across the board are up, profit margins are healthy and competition is on-going (always a good thing). Illogical – I often see systems that add features that seem as though they tossed a bunch of ideas on a wall and whatever stuck up there, went into their platform. The LMS market is strong. The Negatives.
