If emerging technology has taught us anything, it is only a matter of time until it bounces into our space. I have seen continued interest and downloads for open source AR tool kits. If you are still a huge fan of ILT or believe a blended learning approach is necessary, why stick only to PowerPoint, handouts and long talks?

So, if you include Facebook like in your LMS, wouldn’t it be logical to assume that people would follow the same approach and mechanism, that they use in the actual real Facebook product? That there are people out there including vendors who are not on the social media scene. I wonder how many of these vendors offer a micro-blogging like product in their product? One other interesting note, I have yet to see a LMS/LCMS that incorporates social bookmarking in their product. Vendor Section.

I live it, perhaps too much, yet the other day I came across a learning blog informing its readers that in order for the LMS to survive: Must become modular. Must evolve as technology evolves. Even those who offer a pure open source system are meeting the needs of some businesses and educational institutions.

The number one reason people leave their current system or purchase a different e-learning product? Every time I see a product, two statements seem to be universal. If I am a potential customer, I would expect nothing less to come out of the vendor’s mouth on their product and user friendliness.

Many in the education market are still in love with open source systems, such as Moodle. I am projecting the analytical part to significantly increase and to expand the capability to use solutions such as online storage (which a few vendors are offering) and product like Dropbox and CalenGoo. Vendors and sadly, companies who purchase their products, believe that since someone can open up their web browser and click to view pages, they can figure it out. Anything that reduces calls into a company’s tech support (and thus lower the costs for that vendor’s customer support) will be incorportad.
