On the administration side, continues to be well done, but some metric data needs to be improved. I’d like to see more on the administration side, and while the system is top tier, to me it is still missing some data visualization tied to extensive metric data. SumTotal Learning Management – They have come a long way.

IOL stands for impact of learning (an actual term for metrics that is better than ROI). Heavy use of metrics – A lot of metrics and analytical analysis here – going beyond learning platforms in general, and depending on the LMS, might exceed that too. . Metrics are streamlined.

The Cornerstone Acquisition

SumTotal, Cornerstone, Saba to name the big three legacy, and toss in Net Dimensions while you are at it, played heavy in the compliance side, but plenty of customers bought them for other reasons – and yes, all were heavy around employee-focused. On the Learning Environment side, ditto. Again, not everyone, but plenty.

For those systems adding PM capabilities it is either seen as an add-on (in this case, an add-on is the way to go) or adding components within their learning environment to intertwine to a slight degree with learning (I’ll cover how shortly).

What is in store for the LMS Space: My Forecasts for 2016

Right now, there is still only one system in the market that truly has the big data metrics. Even if they do not know drill down to that level of metrics, I am seeing some systems expand their metric capabilities with even more variables then before and in a couple of cases reports.

15 Saba Cloud (Specifically Learning and Skills Development). Metrics are strong, with nice data visualization. Reporting is very good, metrics are solid, data visualization is solid, could be better. Metrics and Reporting is solid. Data visualization and metrics are quite good. Tier 1 and Tier 2 achieved.
