I am trying to import a MP3 audio file into a simulation presentation in Captivate (however it keeps reporting the following error ‘Unable to import audio file ensure that file type is MP3 or WAV and also ensure that the file is not damaged’. I have checked the audio file and it works and it is already in MP3 format – help please.

Captivate only uses the wav and mp3 file format. As a workaround, I right-clicked the audio in PowerPoint and selected Save Media as. Then I used Adobe Media Encoder (it’s a program that is probably on your computer already) and converted the m4a file into a mid-quality mp3. To begin, drag the m4a file into Media Encoder.

Google Slides supports MP3 and WAV audio formats. As with any media you use in your presentation – make sure you have the rights to use the video you choose. If you have a local copy of the audio file you want to insert on your computer, upload it to your Drive and then use the Google Drive tab to search and locate it.

For example, if you created your audio as a WAV file, you will need to use a program like Adobe Media Encoder to convert it to an FLV file. The format of the audio file is important because only Flash Video (FLV) files can be used for syncing events to audio. Flag Events using the Audio Editor.

If you import a (compressed)mp3 file it will automatically be converted to a ‘raw’ wav-file which will also be in this folder. It is recommended whenever possible to import a wav file, when published it will be compressed to mp3 by Captivate. If you insert Characters (Media button) they will appear in this folder as well.

If your file is not in this format (for example, WAV or AVI) you will need to convert it to MP3/MP4. When you select Edit, the audio or video file is opened in Lectora’s media editor. Browse for and select the desired file. Lectora and Lectora Online allow you to synchronize event actions to MP3 audio, MP4 video and FLV file formats.

This is a screenshot of the media settings within Lectora for mobile content. WAV files are far too large to utilize in a mobile course. No Flash: iPads will not play Flash content. If you are converting an already created course for the mobile device, remember to remove all actions that need a Flash component to function properly.
