The authoring tool should be able to retain all the PPT features such as slide transitions, animations, etc. The target audience might want a course to be available offline, so the authoring tool must support it through SCORM, which means that the content is accessible on even an offline LMS.

There is a growing list of vendors, including small/mid size that are adding talent management components that match the Big Dog systems. A couple of vendors have added HRIS modules. It is interesting to note, that many of the vendors are targeting the SMB space, especially the small size (less than 500 employees) market.

If online – a virtual lab, or virtual camp, if offline – way many options. I attended a presentation the other day, whereas they couldn’t figure out how to go to presentation mode for the PPT, resulting in a few minutes of watching them on-screen move around the mouse in PowerPoint to figure it out. Upskilling.

You work online via the servers of your vendor. I had thought that this trend would be dying out, but it is amazing at the number of vendors who are entering the space and still focused on the desktop approach. Vendors who are already in the SaaS only space, should continue to offer features that maximize its power. Same thing.

Transitions, Animations, Views – I am fine using it once, but again, new product-new version, so why I am still seeing PowerPoint within this product to such a point, that TAV are exactly the same as in PPT? Many other desktop products have help built into the product so you can view in your browser but be in offline mode.

For each authoring ranking, a brief true ghost story, then the vendor and why it was selected. Uses a PowerPoint like layout, albeit it shows a hierarchy approach which many people will like – so if you think this is nothing more than PPT in appearance – trust me it is not. heh heh heh. #10 10 Zenler Studio.
