Underlying the story is the message that a lot of things that are done in the name of ‘learning’ are of little if any use – and are sometimes even counter-productive. This first post is a long one. Turns out that there is this site, Textbook Torrents, that is using BitTorrent to distribute free copies of expensive textbooks. My favs include the new edition that includes like maybe a new chapter and obsoletes every used version out there so either you can't sell a book or you can't buy used but have to buy new.
