Another big-time player in the learning technology/system space is Vista Equity, a PE, who at one-time in the 2009-time frame owned SumTotal. However, recent buys such as Cornerstone for example, came from a PE firm. In 2021, they invested in Schoox. PeakSpan Capital , is a Growth Equity firm.

In fact, each of the “Four Horsemen” who rule the enterprise – namely SumTotal , Saba , Plateau & Geolearning – gave it a go in some way although no one outside their immediate customers or PR agencies seemed to notice. RIM stated in late 2009 their support was likely to appear in BBOS6 but that didn’t happen.
