On Monday, Articulate announced their much-anticipated release of Studio ’13, which includes Presenter, Engage, and Quizmaker along with a new video utility called Replay. PowerPoint’s designed as a presentation tool. They’re Just Tools That Build Multimedia. Vendors design tools with features. But if you can step away from what the vendor calls the product and how they present the features, you’ll learn to get more value out of the tools. I also did all of the voices (even the woman’s).

I think you’ll agree that while PowerPoint’s not going to give you the programming options that you’d get in Flash or Storyline , it still is a very capable tool and does allow for effective elearning. Step away from the way the software is marketed and think about them merely as tools that create multimedia content.

Tools within Tools. Most rapid elearning tools are like Articulate Presenter and convert PowerPoint slides to Flash (and soon HTML5). And they can be augmented using a series of form-based tools like Quizmaker and Engage. Each tool you import also exists as a standalone product.
