Probably the two main applications that most designers (I use the term designer to mean instructional designers, developers, and other learning specialists) will use for developing learning platforms are the new versions of Captivate and Dreamweaver. Acrobat for exchanging documents, such as adding a rich text file to Dreamweaver project.

Text to Speech Captivate 4 will include a brand new Text to Speech feature. This uses a special engine that converts text inputted as closed captions into audio that is saved into the published file. Developers should be aware that widgets are not searchable.
