Skillsoft buying SumTotal – My Take

Like many of you, I was surprised to find out that Skillsoft is in the process of acquiring SumTotal. HCM, among other things is all about HR (human resources), HRIS (human resources information systems) and the wherewithal of all that is part of it. Combination of Skillsoft and SumTotal offers comprehensive, content-rich HR solutions.

A vendor who made not only poor business decisions with the likes of Percipio, but also with the monumental blunder of acquiring SumTotal. . The buy was a bad relationship in the making, one where the owner – “Skillsoft” and ownee “SumTotal” never seemed to get on track with one another.

LMS Satisfaction Features and Barriers

Most of the time (as is the case with Oracle) these are different products. I know the folks from CornerStone and their product does some really interesting things. SkillPort scores very high as well on satisfaction. As these systems catch up, this will make the market really hard for Saba and SumTotal.

#HRTECH Learning Vendors Preview – Who to see and who to avoid

Between the two systems, I am leaning more towards LMS365, just because I honestly believe it has a future in the SharePoint space much more so than their other product (nothing against it, but…). This is a tough one, because honestly there are a lot of average learning systems at HR Tech. SumTotal by Skillsoft.
