Very quickly the harsh comments began to pop up on the Twitter stream, and very soon they became a torrent of abuse, disparaging remarks that took on a more and more personal hue, turning the event into a 'car crash keynote'. How many of us would have tweeted a voice of reason during this Twitter storm?

Now, the torrent of information generated by the ever increasing stream of new developments has rendered this impossible. One of my colleagues at togetherLearn voiced concern that it was disorienting to have our internal discussions spread over several social platforms, a standalone wiki, a persistent Skype chat, and email.
