I have spent the last year and a half, looking to see if there were any differences between a LMS and a learning platform. You can disagree and that is fine, and I’m sure some vendors will, but this is my take. Again, some LMSs did not and vice versa, some learning platforms, did, but the norm was LMS yes, learning platform no.

Gamification as of right now, does not truly include gaming elements -0h sure some might say that to be the case, but in reality, well: If a platform says they have gamification it means that they have at least one of the following items. For some reason a lot of vendors, erroreously assume that modules is widely used – it isn’t.

Bewildered on what is happening, why what is needed isn’t appearing as it should, and how is it possible that something so obvious based on where e-learning is heading, mobile is pushing and future tech is inspiring is lost among so many vendors? I am still surprised on how vendors who are offering assessment only tools are staying in the game. Some vendors push heavily on PPT, implying that a great WBT is really a PPT converted to Flash. Over 98% of the LMS/LCMS/learning platform have at least one compliance standard, so why use a RCAT that doesn’t? Makes sense.
