In my work in the instructional design space, I utilize the ADDIE learning method. ADDIE is an acronym that stands for Analysis-Design-Development-Implementation-Evaluation. The initial step in the ADDIE process is the analysis. This is the step where instructional designers take time to get to understand the problem.

Synchronous and Asynchronous Learning Synchronous learning occurs in real time, mirroring traditional classroom settings. On the other hand, Asynchronous learning takes place at individual learners’ own pace, independent of a set schedule. It enables immediate interaction, discussion, and collaborative learning.

That silly thing we call ADDIE, which by the way is anything but silly, is a comprehensive process that goes beyond what could be agile in the instructional design process.

ADDIE: An acronym made up of the words: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The ADDIE process for developing learning solutions has gone through a number of iterations since it was first used in the 1950s. When implementing ADDIE, the outcomes from each phase are fed into the phase that follows.
