These are all parts of the normal ADDIE process , and it is an iterative process if practiced properly which is why it’s such a great process for creating training. It’s also important to consider whether the content aligns with current best practices and instructional design principles.

Instructional design was actually being used. Because of the way the courses were designed. Everyone I knew, followed the ADDIE approach. Flash was very popular, but you needed to know Flash – and yep even in Flash, you could take the course design to a whole new level of engagement.

There are pre-assumptions in play if you attend a workshop or seminar on instructional design or course building. I’ve never seen a presentation where the basics, including all facets of the introductory course design, are provided, regardless of the authoring tool or lack thereof. What to Ignore ADDIE.

I recommend using a process similar to the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) model with the addition of project management tools. I’ve seen companies spend a lot of extra time trying to complete e-learning courses because every step through ADDIE involved all the team members reinventing the wheel.
