In last night’s #lrnchat , the topic was virtual worlds (VWs). The first question to be addressed was whether virtual worlds had been over or underhyped. Everyone pretty much derided the presentation of powerpoints in Second Life, however (and rightly so!). It was a lively session, as always.

I saw a study once comparing a linear elearning course and an experience within the virtual world of Second Life. Yet, inspite of the research about the relative ineffectiveness of classroom instruction, that technology is overwhelmingly the dominate form of instruction in the world.
