A legacy e-learning course refers to an online course developed using Flash, Dreamweaver, XML/HTML, JavaScript or earlier versions of rapid authoring tools. Hence, instead of junking old legacy courses, you should convert them so that they are on par with the recently developed courses. Future Compatibility. As they say, old is gold.

Someone came up with the idea to create templates for developing courses quickly – and no, it wasn’t someone from Adobe or Articulate. Instead, it was someone from Macromedia Dreamweaver, which is software for building websites. Adobe was the first vendor to use templates to create courses. Not Articulate.

Then Dreamweaver, a tool for designing web sites, rolled out templates for course building. Even non-proprietary as well, although if you could afford it, finding a 3rd party off the shelf course was the way to go. .

Articulate has told me that they have an issue with Windows 8 for both Storyline and Studio, but are working on fixing it. Desktop authoring tool vendors who realized this thing was fast approaching are: Articulate. Articulate Storyline, Articulate Studio 13 when launched will be able to do so too. Adobe Captivate 6.

In the past couple of weeks two important eLearning software upgrades have hit the virtual streets: Adobe CS4 came out this week. Articulate released the Studio 09 update to all their tools a couple of weeks ago. They’ve also changed the bundles - thank you Adobe. The CS4 Web Premium bundle now includes: Dreamweaver CS4.

A year ago I wrote a post entitled An Honest Assessment of Adobe Captivate 6 [First Impressions] , which garnered 81 ReTweets and 62 comments, and to this day is the most read post here on my blog. It’s not even this particular version that disappoints me; it’s the overall lack of vision that Adobe has clearly shown in this release.
