Acceptance for cloud based solutions is definitely growing, almost all the vendors have plans in that direction. He showed a video where AICC announced that they will adopt TinCan. TinCan and IACC. The other trend is that the LMS market is changing rapidly. The big thing here is TinCan. I wrote about it before.

Mobile – Native app, available in iTunes, Google Play (Android), ability to view and take courses, content, assessments and whatever else you choose. API integration – yep, either the vendor has open APIs or they can accept any API – and have it work with their system (usually a fee, but that is besides the point).

What I am finding is that AICC is nearly gone in the LEP space (as it is with LMSs too), so if I was you, I’d seek SCORM, SCORM 1.2, PENS is nearly non-existent in this segment and CMI-5 is extremely new and few vendors have it – expect more in 2019. Most vendors in the LEP segment have this. xAPI as my top three.

In 2002, a company created video courses that were AICC compliant and could be bookmarked. The vendor? Boxee just recently launched an app for iTunes that does not require you to own their set to box. It is understandable.sort of. It was revoluntary. The added bonus was it looked solid on a modem. So, what killed it?

Also SCORM 1.2 & AICC. Sure, other vendors will say you can do that too, but you have to open each object file to get it. iTunes, iTunes University, Facebook, MySpace, CD, web server & more. Many vendors hyping PowerPoint to Flash angle as key feature. LMS, web, CD, etc., ADL SCORM 2004 CERTIFIED.
