Streaming or eLearning Courses? These days, you can get online manufacturing courses in two primary delivery methods: streaming or elearning (yes, you can also probably still buy some DVDs, too, and maybe even VHSs are still on the market). Streaming is basically the Netflix model. There are some real benefits to streaming.

We are developing a SCORM or AICC compliant course either custom or using an authoring tool. Likely this sounds familiar to many of you. Note: there have been cases where we needed to go to HTTP stream tracking software to figure out what was wrong. This is something we run into fairly often. The question is what to do about it.

1995 – Real Media arrives on the internet scene streaming an entire baseball game that probably no one watched. Video itself - streamed, recorded, edited then posted, posted without editing, etc. – may/may not include audio incl. Stream your video. 264, MP4, MOV, WMA, AICC, etc. Masses own a VCR.

How much would it cost to lose those revenue streams? SCORM, AICC, and xAPI. SCORM, and AICC are international standards for tracking e-learning activities. Instead of solely pushing out word docs and powerpoints, you can expand your horizons with different media types by using the various versions of SCORM, AICC, and xAPI.

It all sounds great, until you start taking a dive into those assets. At least SCORM support – Plenty still support AICC. As with anything, some are slick, some are not. Collaboration/Peer Review – For the vendors who are more advanced, time stamps, version status, SME names or initials are included. . Output to HTML5.

Streaming video backend – enabling you to upload your video and it automatically be encoded and stream back as a video module. and AICC (why is there AICC? Learner Side Gamification (sound the horns, err trumpets). Can add skills tied to credits tied to badges if so desired. Skills map on home learner page.
