I have spent the last year and a half, looking to see if there were any differences between a LMS and a learning platform. Sure there were learning platforms that had more analytics, just as there were LMSs who did not, but there were a higher percentile in the LMS area that did, than did not. I mean, would you buy, nasty?

I’ve seen some PM components entering LXPs and learning platforms, neither of which, would ever say they are an LMS. It was and still is – training and learning. Assessment tool market? Authoring Tools? If you target the association market, there is no reason to have PM feature sets.

So then it comes down to functionality, but again, nowadays about 80% is the same functionality – depending on the markets themselves – LMS to LMS, LXP to LXP, and so on. . A built-in authoring tool is basic. Plus, I always recommend going 3rd party authoring tool, even if your system comes with one.
