To understand the history of the LMS, there are five items that drove it. ILT (Instructor Led Training – Workplace, even EdTech – K-12 and Higher Education). CBT Prior to online learning known then as WBT, and then the latter term of e-learning (vendors today, use it to refer to content that is online), there was CBT.

Association Learning System Rankings

The Association market is by far, IMO, one of the top three markets, that as a vendor, you should be in. In the past, I’ve always listed the association mkt within the B2B/Customer Education, because it does fit nicely within. There are Professional (which most folks are aware of) and Trade associations.

The vast majority of LXPs today are within a learning platform, or an LMS or as an add-on option to either of those offerings. Docebo, an LMS, scores around 62%. Content marketplace is quite extensive, they even offer a search for Instructor option, although I found it to be heavily ILT. . They continue to add features that go across the board into the LMS space, which isn’t a bad thing. .
