Just in the past two years the per license cost of authoring tools has skyrocketed.

So, why can’t we do it with all the authoring tools on the market? You would think that with over 140 authoring tools on the market, vendors would want you to try out their product before dropping any type of cash. Quicklessons – while they do offer a free version, the product most folks will buy they do not.

Adobe Captivate

When I first got into designing and developing eLearning, it was around 2004, and the first authoring tool I used was Adobe Captivate 2.0. That LMS was from SumTotal, and they also wanted to sell their authoring solution as well. This authoring tool was Toolbook, and I believe it was version 9.
