I note this, because this post covers my new Learning Systems RFP Template , which includes the latest NexGen Tier 4 feature sets. Why one RFP instead of specific ones for LXP and LMS? When see the template you are going to be like “this is a lot of features and categories, no vendor will complete all of this.”

Let’s face it – RFI/RFP documents sent over to learning system vendors are massive tomes that confuse, challenge and even baffle some vendors. Then you have RFP/RFIs that lack substance. The fact of the matter is nobody loves creating RFP/RFIs. They can be 25 pages. 50 pages, even 100 pages or more.

The majority of vendors will continue, regardless of what you espouse. Now, if you want employee learning only, and you go to a vendor who only does customer training, then the initial “use case” rejection (politely) is understandable. The vendor is Skill Jar. The way this happened? They push for it.

Act 2 – Select only a vendor who is well known (name recognized). What it does mean, is that the vendor is strong in marketing and getting their name out to the general public. LMS vendors are continuing to add some very unique features in an effort to set themselves apart from the competition. Desktop sharing (appears with a few vendors). Section 508 (still shocking at the lack of vendors that fail to offer this feature). Integrate with web based e-mail calendars – Gmail and Hotmail.
