They love to show the amount of space in huge font and what it means (x number of courses/content, graphics, files, audio, video, etc.). They are here and growing.

I suspected that the expo would feature a large quantity of rapid content authoring tools. From products that ranged from the latest versions of RCATs to new vendors in the space, including text to speech. . Back in 2000, the knock on rapid content authoring tools were they “pre-template” driven solutions.

Samsung Galaxy S is expected to be the first real challenger to the iPad, it runs on Android OS, offers Flash 10.1 Again, the iPad runs with HTML5, not Flash nor Java. True, the other tablets and Samsung offer Flash 10.1 and Java, but they offer HTML5 too. Same issue occurred with Opera – used Flash and Java.

For my instructional designers and e-learning developers, they loved creating courses. Sure the courses were interactive and engaging, but I found it as fun as starring at Magic Art (actually that was fun, for about 20 minutes before a headache set in). I never found course creating on par with playing an X-Box game.

I wasn’t thunderstruck, but what I was surprised at was the number of folks who had or were about to purchase the well known authoring tools in the market, Articulate, Captive and Lectora. When people think authoring tools, three products typically come to mind. It is easy to use and once you learn it, easy to push out content.
