When Raptivity released its first collection of mobile interactions for iPad and iPhone based eLearning, the path-breaking HTML5 Pack received several accolades. While it was a very useful collection of interactions, it mainly featured a bunch of memory aids such as flash cards. You can encourage exploration by learners.

Last month, a reader named Jackie asked me a number of thoughtful questions about transitioning from teaching K-12 public school to instructional design. I don’t find developing software simulations to be particularly rewarding, for example, because there often isn’t a ton of creativity. A: I wouldn’t learn Flash right now.

Studio ’13 is a very nice upgrade that features new Engage templates, additional quiz questions (including drag-and-drop), feedback layers, HTML5 publishing, characters, and a unified player, among other things. ( Studio ’09 could not output to HTML5, so it was a non-starter for iOS delivery. Software Simulations.

Adobe Flash - The initial interface was built in Flash. However, the Flash movie sits within Articulate Presenter and navigates to an assessment made in Articulate Quizmaker which also sits within the same Presenter project (more on this later). Adobe Captivate - I used this for creating every simulation in the course.
