Product Review: EasyGenerator Rapid Content Authoring Tool

Vendor can create a component so you can push directly into your LMS, without having to upload it directly (extra cost). Even with a learning portal, many people have some type of database on the back end for tracking purposes. E-Learning 24/7. EasyGenerator.

Product Review: Saba Social

eLearning 24-7

So, when I went and checked out Saba Social, Saba’s new social learning platform, I had very low expectations. Testing worked well on all well known browsers: Latest version of Chrome, Firefox 5, IE 9 and latest version of Safari (did not test with Opera, Avant or a few others).

Saba 75

Product Review: Liquid Authoring Content Authoring Tool

eLearning 24-7

In test version, product did not work in FireFox, had problems in Safari, but worked well in Internet Explorer. Those who are e-learning developers and instructional designers, and those folks who are not. E-Learning 24/7. Product: Liquid Authoring.

LMS Vendors: U Can Survive – Innovate, Invigorate and Invent

It was within these comments, that afterwords, I decided to expand a bit plus identify other areas that I see, LMS vendors must explore – which they have not yet done so, to re-energize themselves. Thus, the LMS vendors are creating a Bogeyman – their own bogeyman, and it does not have to be that way. Majority of employees access a LMS or Learning Portal out of the workplace. Far too many LMS vendors are stuck in a rut. Social Learning.

Answering your LMS Questions

eLearning 24-7

How many of you have seen vendors respond to your questions? A: Virtually every LMS vendor out there in the marketplace provides these features. Examples: E-mail notification via SMS. Mobile learning – it might surprise you to know that 75-80% of all systems in the space, currently do not offer any type of mobile learning, the number goes up even higher for online/offline synch. Smart App for TV – One LMS vendor. A: Depends on the vendor.

Something is Going on Down there in the LMS Market

LMS Vendors and Tablets Update. That said, why is this happening: A significant (over 90%) of vendors are holding off this year and at least part of next year from optimizing their solution to the iPad. But with LMS vendors jumping into the mobile learning sector, at least in some cases, it may be a tad misleading. I’m sure they tested with IE, Firefox, Safari and Chrome, but what about Opera? Firefox 4.0? LMS/LCMS/CMS Vendors.

Product Review: Mindflash.com

eLearning 24-7

E-mail specific slides to subject matter experts for review. E-Mail notifications and reminders. Works in Chrome, Firefox, IE 9 (did not test Safari). Terms “trainer” and “trainee” – these are instructor led terms, not e-learning. Requirement for the “trainer” to have their e-mail address before course is launched – why? Send someone via e-mail the preview. E-Learning 24/7.

LMS/LCMS More Puzzlers – OS + Language + Browsers

eLearning 24-7

I realized I left out three additional gems that vendors seem to have just fallen off the planet when it comes to the REAL WORLD! They are not going away, and yet an enormous amount of vendors do not support them, let alone Safari. And yes, Firefox supports 64 bit. Many vendors support this. Firefox 3.0+. I grew up on the border and learned LAS, not Spanish from Spain (which they teach in College and many text books). E-Learning 24/7.

Dreamweaver Slayers

eLearning 24-7

A novice could learn it and do some things quicker than Dreamweaver. It is brand new and thus a work in progress, based on the rendering engine of Firefox. I did not include the following because I believe they are more oriented towards creating web sites or IDE or not necessarily useful for e-learning; but if you like it.then go for it. E-Learning 24/7.

Product Review: GeoLearning GeoMaestro

eLearning 24-7

Social Learning standard features – Lame. Social Learning add on module – Not a lot for what you get at an additional cost. It is truly amazing on how vendors seem to think lots of stuff on the page, is the way to go and navigation is just a requirement. Why vendors still think this is not needed or used, makes no sense. This is only an add on option, so if you have another vendor you use, you can without having to purchase the Lectora option.
