I have seen over 150 systems, 80 plus authoring tools, dozens of web conferencing products, mobile learning, quiz assessment tools, CMSs and learning portals, and not everyone of them meets those two statements. Learning Management Systems, LCMS, Learning Portals. The worst of the offenders.

Can you tie it to your e-commerce (if you have it in your system), so when people register and their is a fee, they pay it? . Do you have a calendar whereas someone can click on the date and the seminars or webinars appear Or is it just a list of events (if you offer that)? . Where do the seminars, etc. In the catalog? Elsewhere?

You could count on your hand the number of vendors even looking at it, and I’m not just talking LMSs/Learning Portals, but content authoring tools and other products. I recall speaking in November on a webinar panel and being somewhat chided over the fact that I kept repeating the importance of mobile learning and tablets.

They are being pushed – either by force, demand or realization, that e-learning is the future. Yet, they can’t give up on their ILT approach or classroom offerings (even though webinars are equal if not better then many ILT and WBT is far superior to anything ILT). Bottom Line.
