This also allows the system to leverage central indexing and search, while maintaining the tracking and metrics needed for regulatory compliance. More importantly, there’s no ducking out after each platform launches.

Learning Environment – Plays a massive role, and goes beyond assigning content to X group, versus Y group (which every system can do), and similar. Metrics – These will tell you the story of learning. The analytics on CBX, while solid, needs a major UI/UX revamp, and more metrics that align for today’s workforce.

On the administration side, continues to be well done, but some metric data needs to be improved. I’d like to see more on the administration side, and while the system is top tier, to me it is still missing some data visualization tied to extensive metric data. Metric wise, extremely well done. NexGen is above average.

IOL stands for impact of learning (an actual term for metrics that is better than ROI). Heavy use of metrics – A lot of metrics and analytical analysis here – going beyond learning platforms in general, and depending on the LMS, might exceed that too. . Has an LRS – this helps drive those metrics.

SumTotal, Cornerstone, Saba to name the big three legacy, and toss in Net Dimensions while you are at it, played heavy in the compliance side, but plenty of customers bought them for other reasons – and yes, all were heavy around employee-focused. On the Learning Environment side, ditto. I didn’t want that, nor needed it.

For those systems adding PM capabilities it is either seen as an add-on (in this case, an add-on is the way to go) or adding components within their learning environment to intertwine to a slight degree with learning (I’ll cover how shortly).

Metrics – They offer it, but rarely will it be as robust as an LMS (as a whole). But generally speaking, reporting and metrics tend to favor LMSs, and some learning platforms. Learning and administration environments. Reporting and Analytical data i.e. metric visualization. Skills Management. Manager area.
