If they were a vendor who played in EdTech (K-12, HE) but also played into corporate and did so, not just by having clients find them, but actively through marketing, they were considered too. Strictly If the vendor was a custom shop building a system, off say Moodle or whatever code they are using that is open source? Strictly EdTech?

It wouldn’t surprise me if the majority of vendors who go with Gen-AI (and eventually, they all must, or they will be too far behind), use GPT (by OpenAI). Or GPT4 (expensive token-wise) or the next version of GPT. I’ll be upfront here, that some vendors do not fit the above categories around the systems section.

Overall though when tied into the other capabilities, and responses to my inquiries – covering a variety of questions and understanding the vendor’s response or lack thereof, will identify where they slide. I can not stress this enough, if you are basing your decision on the vendor’s client list, you are going to be unhappy.

Vendors saying “have you looked at XYZ” (which is their system). plus all the vendors will be found in FindAnLMS), I do have systems I can recommend based on various criteria. Folks seem fine with the vendor noting how awesome their support is, without extracting any metrics or verifiable data. .

Sure a vendor can say we are an LXP, but a LMS too or vice versa. LMS vendors on the other hand are adding LXP features, to counter, and in some marketing may note, learning experience blah blah. . Who can forget, err remember the “Western Trail” PC version? . No, it is not learning software.

In my upcoming NexGen Leader Pack (coming in late July), the majority are LMS vendors. Because, ILT, on-site, was the only way, the main way to learn (excluding the guides nobody read) didn’t and still doesn’t offer that. The first vendor to have geolocation in their mobile app? LMS vendor. Nor at DevLearn.
