Recently someone in the community asked how to create a circle-shaped video for an e-learning interaction in Storyline. A real easy solution is to create an image with a circle hole in it and then place the video underneath only allowing the video to show through the circle hole. A circle has a 1:1 aspect ratio.

Visual Design Mistake 1: Images are Scrunched & Not Scaled. An image is inserted and then to make it fit or move it, it gets moved from the top or side anchors on the bounding box. This scrunches the image and makes it look a little off. The fix is to drag it from the corner to scale it and preserve its aspect ratio.

Today I am going to cover five ways to use PowerPoint as an image editor. This is great for quick image editing or for those who don’t have other image editors on hand. Save PowerPoint Content as an Image. I like to save as a.PNG so that the transparent areas of the image are still transparent.

The other day I made some images for a course menu page in Rise 360. When I reviewed my final image, I realized that there were several iterations. Here are a few considerations: By default the course size is a 4:3 aspect ratio set at 720×540 pixels. This is a good aspect ratio and the course can be set to scale with the browser, so pixel width isn’t as big of an issue. The image below shows the 4:3 aspect ratio with a sidebar menu. Understanding the Image Blocks in Rise. Rise offers a number of blocks that support inserted images (such as image, gallery, and some of the interactions). Most them work perfectly in one of two aspect ratios: 1:1 (square). There are a few blocks that have text overlay where the image is scaled. 16:9 (rectangle).

Cover images are mostly decorative. And because of the responsive nature of the Rise courses, the cover image gets cropped based on the screen’s aspect ratio. The key is keep the cover images simple.
