They so buy into it, as the best way to learn X or Y, that there is a movement to add synchronous-based learning, back in the day, we referred to SBL as sticking the classroom teaching method online. Secondly, many systems in the early 2000s offered groups, chat, discussion boards/forums and other capabilities that are social in nature.

CMI-5 is the new player in town (I’ll get to that in a bit). But SCORM is still a dominant player out there and to assume that it is resting in a nice funeral plot or will be, I think is jumping way ahead. But PENS faces those same challenges as the demise of SCORM as related to buy-in. I have mixed feelings on SCORM.
