In 2009, Articulate Studio took-off as a Microsoft PowerPoint add-on for this very purpose. Heck, there isn’t even mention of the dated SCORM protocol. The global success of Articulate is well known in the elearning field, and it appears that Microsoft would like to steal a bit of market share as well! Sound familiar?

The SCORM model of the past was clunky and not fit for today’s mobile technology – Tin Can API fixes this. The last version from 2009 was littered with bugs and was built originally off of an older version of Microsoft PowerPoint. This new elearning protocol was long overdue. Version 1.0 Version 1.0

ELearning was really starting to take-off at this point, especially given the overhaul of the former SCORM protocol that used to dominate elearning. One of the most significant developments over the past 10 years to elearning was the influence of mobile technology around 2009. It is hard to believe that 2004 was a decade ago.
