Course Standards: Where R We Heading?

At one time, you could be “certified” with AICC and yes certified with SCORM, but why would you want to be? I’ve never heard someone say, “Sheesh, I need an LMS that is SCORM certified, or what your authoring tool is not AICC certified? I still see course libraries that are only AICC. Here is my take.

I have seen continued interest and downloads for open source AR tool kits. Kinect technology was not created at a Microsoft lab, rather it was created by a group of folks in Cambridge, England. no SCORM, AICC or PENS – however, I am now seeing a few vendors offer PENS (created by AICC back in 2005, but slowly gaining traction).

State of the Authoring Tool Industry

Strange, since I could find no evidence, no information from multiple research standpoints, that Microsoft pitches it an authoring tool. Yes, you can use it for many different things, and yes, Microsoft has an add-on that turns PPT into something similar to Adobe Presenter. At least SCORM support – Plenty still support AICC.
