CBT Prior to online learning known then as WBT, and then the latter term of e-learning (vendors today, use it to refer to content that is online), there was CBT. CBT was the “new” and exciting way to learn. Other fun tidbits AICC was the leader here, then came SCORM. WBT (Web-Based Training).

Innovation abounded and the push to focus on the “PPT to Flash&# angle continued to shine. The Big Dogs – which in this case, deals more with market share, for the most part continued to push forward, yet from an innovation standpoint, uh, solid, but not outstanding. Also SCORM 1.2 & AICC. Innovators of the Year.

This year, I estimated a 55/60% e-learning, including some ILT vendors offering some type of e-learning component. . In all the years I have attended and have known about ATD (formally ASTD), this year is by far the most in terms of e-learning vendors, especially those in the LMS space.

Desktop or SAAS – i.e. you either dl the software and work on it on your desktop or your server OR you access the software in the “cloud&#. It isn’t, but there are a few vendors starting to add it to their interoperability standards and yes a few LMS vendors too. E-Learning 24/7. won’t work.
