I first noticed this enthusiasm-action gap when colleague Jim Marshall and I surveyed workplace learning professionals about their learning technology practices. To our surprise, even in this professionally active sample, only 4% said they were using mobile to deliver learning and support in their organizations. Think about that.

Asking for feedback through surveys isn’t organic, two-way conversation. Five areas you can look at when assessing a learning environment or event are: Design, Setting, Structure, Learner Readiness, and Follow-up. For example, “The numbers show that we sold ten seats in the course.” Start a dialogue. But it’s not the only one.

The road ahead : I am presently developing detailed role descriptions, community guidelines, role assessment tools, and the identification of appropriate learning products and offerings. If there was a perfect assessment system, someone could just prove what they know, regardless of how they gained the knowledge. Make it Blended!
