Someone came up with the idea of a LMS. Someone came up with the term LMS – albeit Jay Cross (RIP) is said to be that person; however, this is debatable. However, ND never hit its stride and had the potential to do so – the very first vendor, whereas you could use part of it via a jump drive (true).

Over the last ten years or so, major elearning developers have preferred to use tools like Flash, Authorware and Director from Adobe (earlier Macromedia). Standard compliance and course delivery ELearning content is typically hosted and delivered through various Learning Management Systems.

If you are creating a product geared towards ID and e-learning developers it should not be as easy as using PowerPoint. Joking aside much of the ribbon, maybe all, I wasn’t doing a cross comparison with PPT, seemed to remind me of PPT. Use a built-in AT product in a LMS and rarely do you find hotspot. They make tweaks.

Honestly, I wish they would do more with their “online” version, in comparison but they have not. For the former, you can definitely create courses and if you want to maximize it, then expect a bit of time to achieve it – and learn it. #19 Will it replicate those craving for an Authorware return? Fun Features.

Anyone who used Authorware can attest to that. Another post I just saw on LinkedIn talked about ID folks who needed to have LMS admin skill sets, as though what the people doing the hiring really wanted was a jack of all trades person, thus saving them money from hiring two people. Sure, but you can also use a textbook as a doorstop.
