I collect these at the start of each class session and quickly scan, grade, and return them so they can be used when completing their in-class work. As I use open educational resource (OER) materials, I can easily edit the textbook as needed to accommodate student misconceptions or often will just make a short video and post it online.

L&D’s focus needs to shift from designing one-size fits all courses to consulting with individual learners, their managers and HR, and carving out learning roadmaps for them. We can take a leaf our of platforms like Udemy or Coursera that offers a gamut of courses – all accessible via an app.
