Games should allow learners to fail and discover winning strategies. One of my goals as a developer is to incorporate game techniques in learning as much as I can. Some of these lessons are: Games can be used to simulate real work situations. Games should be tied to learning goals.

I used a combination of in house custom developed content and 3rd party content. The courses developed in house were based on simulations and interactions. This is not an ideal long term strategy but it works well as a stopgap until the LMS is up and running. This was the company's first attempt at self-paced online training.
