Compare the authoring tool market with the LMS space and you can clearly see the difference.

So, why can’t we do it with all the authoring tools on the market? Why are some vendors making it impossible? Why are some vendors treating you as a spy or something sinister when you just want to try out the product? NexLearn Professional – jeez starting to see a trend here? Mac OS market share is 7.1%

The biggest problem facing the industry in the past few years are the lack of course authoring tools for e-learning developers and instructional designers. Sure, you can use the extensive list of tools on the market, but for those who want real power and complexity ala from the days of Authorware, pickings are slim.

Vendors who do not have anyone in their booth, during expo times – I see this at all shows, regardless of the product or market; but at e-learning/training shows you see it a lot OR you see them eating in their booth. Kaplan Learning Technologies – Atlantic Link & STT Trainer products. The Average.

A few vendors (and not just on the above list), customize so much, that you really have no idea on what the system originally looked like. Authorware was a great product, but its learning curve was extremely difficult and user friendliness was debatable. There should be no issue in saving it – and output should be simple.
